After having this blog running for nearly 9 months, I figure it might be time to introduce you to my awesome husband!
Betsy at Heavens to Betsy came up with some fun questions to start with, and then I continued on with some more. Here's a little 'getting to know you' about my M:
§ Introduce yourself.
Hello, ladies! (Tell them a little about yourself...) I'm Rebecca's husband and Bug's dad. I'm a big Beatles fan.
§ Have you ever had a blog, or have you ever considered starting one?
No, and yes. (My man of few words...can you elaborate?) I've considered starting one for work. (But finance is boring so I'm going to skip over this part. Hehe.)
§ If you could be a member of any band, which one would it be?
J. Lo's backup singer. (Ha! Seriously.) Right now I'd say Arctic Monkeys - back in the day I'd say Beatles.
§ Valentine's Day is on the horizon. Are you the date-planner type or do you fly by the seat of your pants?
(Hahahahaha from me). I think we both know the answer to that question...I have great ideas, I just forget to mention them, or set them up ahead of time. But I always seem to land on my feet, thanks to my very patient wife whose standards don't seem to be too high. ;)
§ Do you have anything planned for Feb 14th?
A baby, hopefully!
§ Tell us about a date-night-gone-wrong for you and your wife.
Valentine's Day 4 years ago. I took her to see Wicked, and we had the worst seats in the house. I hadn't booked a restaurant for dinner and we ended up eating at the only place we could get into in time to see the show, a cheap pizzeria beside Victoria train station that was full of junkies. Then after the show the bus home was canceled so we had to walk in the freezing cold. As bad as it was, we laughed - I can always make you laugh thankfully! (I forgot about this one until he started talking about it, ha. It was a pretty funny-because-it-was-so-bad evening!)
§ Who are you rooting for in the Superbowl and why?
The Yankees? Jeter? David Beckham...? What? I'm Irish. What is this Super Bowl thing? Don't you always say you only watch it for the adverts? (Ha - I do!)
§ Do you read my blog?
Yeah (Do you like it...?) I do, I love it. I like everyone’s reactions to it as well. I like hearing about the friendships you’ve developed as a result of it and I like other people talking to me about it and how much they enjoy it and look forward to the next post.
§ What does IRL stand for?
Ireland! (That’s what I thought too, ha!)
§ What are two things I do really well?
You’re very organized and you always deliver. Sounds like I’m reviewing your work, ha. I’d hire you! You teach Bug so much.
§ What is your first memory of me?
Coming back with drinks for the table and I hadn’t gotten you one. You said, ‘where’s mine?’ and I thought that was cheeky.
§ When did you know that you wanted to marry me?
Our first date. I think you knew then too. Way before I kissed you. I knew I’d met someone where I just didn’t want it to end. (Mushy face from me)
§ Where do you see us 5 years from now?
Melbourne. (He laughs, joking - I think.) Hopefully here – we did just buy a house. (I remind him that in 5 years we’ll be 40 and his eyes widen, I think I’ve lost him now.) Oh my God. I’ll be 40. I hope that we’re part of the community and we’ve built a solid foundation as a family, as The O’Loughlins, and that we consider this home and have friendships that are real. I hope by 5 years time I’ll have had my family out here to visit and we’ll have brought our family back there several times as well.
§ What is one chore you absolutely despise?
I would have to say putting my dishes in the dishwasher. (He says jokingly because he knows he’s terrible at remembering to do it!)
§ How do you feel about Baby O2 coming in the next few weeks?
Really excited! I think it will be a great sense of achievement for the 2 of us. It's wonderful to go from 2 to 3 to 4 and in such a short space of time. I can't wait to see Bug's reaction to being a big sister and I'm looking forward to getting to know the new little one and watching their personalities together.
§ How do you think I handle pregnancy…? (A loaded question for a husband...)
Better than most, by all accounts. You don't have any crazy food cravings like I hear from my friends. Your can-do attitude continues - it's relentless, it's you. (I haven't been too crazy hormonal?) No, you are a doer. You just get on and do stuff. I mean, we've moved countries, lived with your parents, moved into a new home, you've watched me travel every week with work, and you're still smiling and excited and I love that about you. Your glass is always half full. (#allthehearteyes)
§ What were you thinking when I was in labor with Bug? 3 words
I'm so hungry. (It was a looooong labor!) No, I was just thinking that I wanted you and baby to be healthy and ok.
§ How do you feel about having moved to the US?
Since arriving I've learned to speak very good American. And keep being told I sound Canadian.
§ What is one thing you miss about England?
§ Is there anything you regret us not doing while we lived there?
We never went to the Lake District - and we never went Zorbing!
§ What is your ideal way to relax?
§ If you could pick a theme song to play every time I walked into the room, what would it be?
"Poison" (He laughs his head off. I'm guessing he picked it because I goofy dance to this Bel Biv Devoe song whenever it comes on!)
Can't you just see why I picked this guy for my forever? He can indeed *always* make me laugh; he's a brilliant father and a wonderful husband; and without a doubt he is the most fun person I know! I know Mondays are my day for sharing gratefulness but I can't talk about my partner in crime without feeling overwhelmed by gratitude, that I am so blessed to have him in my life. (The roses and ice cream for no reason are just an added bonus...!) :)
