Seldom do I wear red. I'm not sure why, as it's a great color, except that I tend to steer towards dark (ahem, slimming) colors when I'm pregnant. For the life of me I can't remember any of my non maternity clothes - probably since they've been in a locked storage unit for 4 months - so I genuinely can't say if I have a lot of red in my 'normal' wardrobe...but one thing I *DO* like to wear in red is shoes! My favorite pair of shoes I ever bought in London was this fantastic faux croc-print lipstick red pair of stiletto pumps/courts from Dune - they were seriously deadly. I wore them to every important meeting I needed to make a powerful impression of at work (with a black suit, to balance them out), I wore them on girls' nights out to dance the week off, and I wore them so much that I wore them into the ground within months. That was the first time I ever wished I had bought a 2nd pair of the same shoe.
Only a few weeks ago, I found these fabulous red flats online - and I thought immediately, Christmas shoes! They are just so festive, with the embellished beading, and the color is amazing. I paired them with this blue and red print empire dress and red lipstick to play with the 'lady in red' theme a little more. I will definitely wear this again - the dress and the shoes go so well together, and the cardigan (a gift from my sis!) matches the dress perfectly too. Even the cotton Old Navy scarf I threw on just for fun happened to match the colors in everything, and since the pattern was different I thought it made for a fun accent. The 'bling' I took from my first Rocksbox are bigger than I would normally wear, but they're cool and baubly and give the outfit something to play off the shoe embellishment! I think this whole outfit will go into my luggage for our weekend in NYC - a good date night option!!
It's back to frigid temps up here so I balked at photos outdoors - luckily, our own personal backdrop opened up on Friday (see: our new house!) and even though the light wasn't ideal, we had a little fun taking the first pictures in front of the new fireplace. :) What do you think?? I'll share more of the house as we get settled into it!
How about yourself - do you wear red often? How do you style something red and bold?
