I've said it before and I'll say it again...I'm starting to feel wholly unprepared for how cold it gets back here at home. It was cold this weekend - and not anywhere near as cold as it's going to be. My poor body had adjusted to English weather...it's going to be a shock when winter hits here!
One of the things I do like about cold weather though, is layering. Layers are amazing things - especially for a girl who can never seem to dress correctly for the temperature! From a practical standpoint, you can add or remove items to achieve the perfect level of comfort. (Very helpful when you live somewhere that is so variable in temperature. As they say here "if you don't like the weather, stick around for 15 minutes!" And if you're not adding a ton of bulk, layers can be really flattering too. Scarves are an easy go-to for pretty layers. Plus they're addicting - so many colors and patterns to choose from, oh my! I was rather excited about this week because I found, buried in the boxes in the basement, one marked "maternity clothes" - jackpot!! It felt a bit like Christmas with me pulling all of the clothes I bought for my first pregnancy out of the box and my eyes lighting up with each find. My closet is no longer a compilation of 2 pairs of jeans, non maternity (read: not fitting now) dresses, and a handful of tops - hooray!
For this prompt I pulled out this denim skirt I bought last pregnancy. I love a denim skirt for a slightly different look while still feeling casual. I added a long sleeve tee and one of the pretty scarves my mother-in-law gave me (she has amazing taste!), and then because the colors worked so perfectly, I pulled on this lightweight blue open cardigan too! The ankle boots I picked up a couple weeks ago finished off the look.
