Well, well, well, Monday....we meet again!
After the excitement of last week's home buying beginnings, over the weekend it hit me that this purchase brings quite a definite finality to our life in London. I did of course know that we were leaving the UK and saying goodbye when we did, but until we actually began to be settled here, it didn't feel real exactly...almost as if it's been an extended holiday in a way. I am SO excited for this next adventure - but I can't help but feel a little bit sad about the ending of our previous adventures. Adventures where I learned to stand on my own two feet, where I met M, where I earned two promotions at work, where M and I moved in together, got married, and had a child, where I gave up my career to be a stay at home mom... And in all that time I also had wonderful experiences of exploring London, England, and Europe, making new friends, and trying so many quintessentially English things that I became a pretty solid Anglophile. I was lucky enough to have lived in the UK during a pretty epic time - so many historical moments happened during the six years of my English residence: the Royal Wedding, the 2012 Olympics, the Diamond Jubilee, the London riots, Prince George's birth, Andy Murray winning Wimbledon...it was amazing to see these things in person (even the riots, which were frightening but definitely historical).
So today, besides being grateful for the house process moving along over on this side of the pond, I am also grateful for the time I had living abroad in London. I'm thankful for each and every adventure I had while I was there, for the future trips we will take there to visit friends and show our old home to Bug and Microbug, and for the memories that I will always have because of that beautiful time in our lives!
